About the Artist: Maddie is a thoughtful and friendly teenage girl with a passion for sports, animals, and spending time with her family and friends. Despite having been in and out of foster homes since the 6th grade, she maintains a bright spirit and a love for life. Known for being a bit of a "yapper," she’s always ready to chat and share a laugh. Art is a meaningful outlet for her, and she lights up when people acknowledge her creations.

About the Artwork: Alavar’s poem captures the deep loneliness and longing they have felt growing up in the foster care system, beautifully highlighting the essential need for parental figures in a child’s life.

About the Artist: Alavar is a creative and thoughtful teenager with a passion for bringing ideas to life. They love reading, writing, singing, and acting. Alavar has a natural ability to connect with peers and easily makes friends, enjoying time spent with others who share their interests. Known for being sweet and reserved, Alavar also finds joy in expressing themselves through creative outlets, including writing poetry and crafting unique projects.

About the Artwork: “’Family’ isn’t defined by people’s stereotypes. It can look many different ways, come in all shapes, sizes, and come in a whole rainbow of colors. It’s in the smiles you share, the hand there to hold yours, and the memories that altogether make you ‘family’. My piece is here to represent ‘family’, something everyone should have.”

About the Artist: “My name is Keva. I am 17 years old and a rising senior in school. I am homeschooled which is awesome because I have more time to do things I love, like art! I love drawing, painting, and writing & performing poetry. I enjoy creating meaningful pieces that people connect to
and love. I was lucky enough to be adopted from foster care when I was a baby and joined 2 of my biological siblings in our forever family.”

About the Artist: Chris’ diorama is a recreation of his room and and represents how one’s outlook can manifest physically in their environment. Chris was born in New York City and then moved to Fitchburg. He is a very curious and creative child. He loves making stop-motion videos and drawing cartoons. This summer, Chris attended the Boston Comic Arts Foundation (BCAF) workshops in Cambridge. There he learned from graphic novelists about how to begin and develop stories. Additionally, Chris attended the annual BCAF Summer Comics Convention at Northeastern University and interacted with numerous adult and child artists.

About the Artist: Yessenia is a creative and thoughtful young adult with a deep love for arts and crafts. She has a natural talent for baking and dreams of becoming a baker, often creating delicious cookies to share with others and taking pride in her sweet creations. Yessenia also has a passion for fashion, and she loves experimenting with different outfits and jewelry, always finding new ways to express herself. Her creativity shines through in everything she does, whether she’s designing a new look or crafting something special in the kitchen.

He is always up for something new, especially when it comes to trying new foods. He loves to go on adventures and is always up for a game of basketball and recently has been trying out track and field. He cares deeply for the important people in his life and loves spending time with them. Kamauri is thoughtful and quick to bring smiles to faces around him.

About the Artist: "Jacob is a 12-year-old boy who loves football, sharks, and cookie dough. He also enjoys being outside in nature and going for thoughtful walks. Jacob also loves to create, whether that is building with Legos, writing stories, or painting pictures. During his free time, Jacob loves to read, chat with his friends, or play sports like basketball or football. Jacob is a wonderful and kind friend who cares very deeply about others."
