HI! My name is Shamus.
"I excel in sports"
Shamus is a smart eleven-year-old boy of Caucasian descent. Shamus is active and has a high level of energy. He loves to play outside and he enjoys playing on sports teams. He is very athletic and excels on the football field. He is also very good at video games, and likes to play after he completes his homework.
Shamus sees himself graduating from college one day, and opening his own business. He understands that he needs to do well in school and consistently put forth a good effort to achieve the grades needed to get into college. Shamus struggles with math and organization, but he is working on these areas with support. Shamus was recently placed on a social emotional Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). He has difficulty with peers at times and struggles in social situations. He prefers not to be touched due to sensory issues, which can be challenging for him. Shamus meets with a therapist and therapeutic mentor once per week.
Shamus is legally freed for adoption and would do well in a family who will provide a nurturing yet structured home environment. He would flourish with parents who will continue to encourage him to express his feelings, advocate for him in the community, support him in school as well as therapy and attend the sessions as needed. They will need to help him stay organized with school paperwork and work with him on homework. It would be beneficial if the family could also encourage Shamus to continue to play team sports which will hopefully help him build his social skills while participating in an activity that he enjoys. The family will need to maintain all of the important connections in Shamus’ life, including his three brothers and his sister but also his current foster parent, who has been a stable and supportive person in his life.
